What is screw conveyor?

Screw conveyor is a kind of machine that uses the motor to drive the screw to rotate and push the material to achieve the purpose of conveying. Screw conveyor can be divided into two types: axial screw conveyor and shaftless screw conveyor. In appearance, it can be divided into U-shaped screw conveyor and tubular screw conveyor. The shaft screw conveyor is suitable for dry powder materials and small particle materials without viscosity, while the shaft screw conveyor is suitable for materials with viscosity and easy winding.

Through the gravity of the material and the friction between the material and the tank wall, the screw conveyor can only move forward along the bottom of the conveyor under the push of the blades.

Classification of screw conveyors

• Horizontal screw conveyor: Horizontal screw conveyors is the most common type of conveyor, which can use multiple inlet feeding and unloading point conveying the materials to the required location in a wide range.
• Inclined screw conveyor: The inclined screw conveyors is mainly used to conveying materials in an inclined route. In this way, no additional equipment is required to send materials to the high point for conveying.
• Vertical screw conveyor: The vertical screw conveyor systems conveying bulk materials on vertical paths and very steep slopes, which with an inclination angle of 45 degrees higher than the horizontal plane. They are also space and cost-effective in transporting bulk materials.

Application of screw conveyor 

Screw conveyor machine is widely used in various industries, such as building materials, chemical industry, electric power, metallurgy, coal charcoal, grain and other industries. It is suitable for horizontal or inclined transportation of powdery, granular and small pieces of materials, such as coal mine, ash, slag, cement, grain and so on. The material temperature is less than 200 ℃.

Routine maintenance

• For routine maintenance, lubricating oil should be regularly added to the transmission parts such as bearings, gears and chains.
• After the box conveyor is out of service, check the wear of the spiral blades, and repair welding in case of serious wear.
• The conveying capacity must not be overloaded, otherwise the materials cannot be discharged, causing the spiral shaft to bend and the box to swell.
• When the conveying medium is high, pay attention to whether the expansion and contraction of the box is free and there is no stuck place, and if so, solve it quickly.
• When the noise emitted by the conveyor is harsh during operation, cover it for inspection and troubleshooting

Precautions for conveyor operation

• Before using the conveyor, check whether the operating parts, belt buckles and bearing devices are normal and whether the protective equipment is complete. The tension of the tape must be adjusted to an appropriate degree before starting.
• The belt conveyor shall be started without load. The material can be fed only after the operation is normal. It is forbidden to feed before driving. When several conveyors are running in series, they should start from the discharge end in sequence. Only after all of them are in normal operation can they be fed.
• No pedestrians or passengers are allowed on the conveyor belt.
• Stop feeding before stopping the machine, and stop the machine only after all the materials stored on the belt are unloaded.
• It is forbidden to pull the belt by hand when the belt slips, so as to avoid accidents.
